Liya Kebede Brings Awareness to Childbirth in Africa
Supermodel Liya Kebede continues to use her voice and celebrity to bring awareness to issues surrounding childbirth in Africa.
Liya Kebede appeared on the Today Show with Duchess Sarah Ferguson to bring awareness to the many issues women in Africa and other third world countries go through during childbrith.
Liya especially talked about Ethiopia where the majority of women still have home births without proper care and how the rate of women who die while giving birth is extremely high.
Liya also has a foundation, The Liya Kebede Foundation whose mission is to reduce maternal, newborn and child mortality and to improve the health and well-being of mothers and children around the world. Liya is also the Goodwill Ambassador for Maternal, Newborn and Child Birth.
It is always nice to see Africans use their celebrity for the motherland. Liya is currently on the cover of Vogue Magazine.
